@WashULaw Hosts First Summer Immersion for Online Master of Laws (LL.M.) Students
@WashULaw welcomed its online Master of Laws (LL.M.) in U.S. Law students to St. Louis last week to kick off the program’s first summer immersion. Legal professionals from around the world traveled to the United States to embark on a two-week tour of legal institutions in three major U.S. cities: St. Louis, Missouri; Washington, D.C.; and New York City. The optional immersion supplements @WashULaw’s rigorous LL.M. in U.S. Law curriculum.
“The students enrolled in our online program are distinguished legal professionals from around the world,” says Washington University School of Law Associate Dean Mike Koby. “The summer immersion is an opportunity for our students to connect in person with the university, their professors and classmates, as well as the curriculum they have been studying. This program demonstrates our commitment to offer our students the best possible experience in their LL.M. program.”
Students participating in the summer immersion hail from countries around the world, including Ghana, Japan, China, Brazil, Ecuador, Pakistan and Egypt. Students will gain an intensive, hands-on experience with the U.S. legal system through activities that include observations of live court hearings; meetings with judges, attorneys, and congressman; and visits to prominent professional buildings like the Old St. Louis County Courthouse, the Library of Congress, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Students will also have time for fun: a Cardinals baseball game, networking events with alumni, and a showing of the Broadway musical,Wicked, are also included in the itinerary.
