Dual Master of Laws Curriculum

The online dual Master of Laws (LL.M.) in U.S. Law and Transnational Legal Practice program features curricula from the Washington University School of Law and Tecnológico de Monterrey's School of Government and Public Transformation. Courses are designed and led by the same faculty who teach on campus at both universities. The course work instills students with a foundation in international law, including valuable legal skills used in the United States and Latin America.

Program Requirements

The dual degree is a 35-credit program and can typically be completed in two to three years. Students will complete 20 credits from the Washington University School of Law and 15 credits from Tecnológico de Monterrey. After completing the required introductory course, students can then customize their curriculum by selecting elective courses from both universities. All classes are taught in English.

Introduction to U.S. Law & Methods I: The U.S. Legal System (3 credits)

This foundational course explores how law is created, enacted and changed in the United States. The objective is to learn to solve legal challenges and understand legal concepts with U.S. legal sources, methods and institutions.

Elective courses allow students to focus their studies on areas that directly relate to their career goals. Electives are available in areas such as contracts, civil procedure, corporate compliance, trial advocacy and intellectual property.

Tecnológico de Monterrey electives cover a variety of international legal topics. These include regulation of international trade and investment, international business transactions, transnational litigation and arbitration, and international law of human rights.
